The successor to Washougal City Councilwoman Caryn Plinski will be chosen in July.

A special City Council meeting had been scheduled for Monday, at 7 p.m., in the council chambers at City Hall, 1701 “C” St., to hold interviews of applicants and potentially appoint a new member, and the deadline to submit applications was going to 5 p.m., Wednesday.

However, it was mentioned during last night’s council meeting that not all six of the council members would be available to attend Monday. A new date for interviews and potential selection has not been selected.

The city council must select a successor to Caryn Plinski by Thursday, July 31, or a selection could be made by the Clark County Commissioners.

Application packets for potential council members can be picked up at City Hall, or downloaded from the city website at www.cityofwashougal.us.

Completed application packets should be addressed to: Jennifer Forsberg, City Clerk, Washougal City Hall, 1701 “C” St., Washougal, WA 98671.

There are currently three applicants. Their names are not being released by the city until after the application deadline passes. An updated deadline has not been established.

Plinski resigned from the council, because she and her family have purchased a home that is outside of Washougal’s city limits.

Council Position 2 will be part of the 2015 primary and General Election cycle. The individual who is appointed to succeed Plinski will serve until the results of the November 2015 General Election are certified later that month.
