Kevin Shaw, a donation attendant for Goodwill Industries, accepts contributed items, in the Evergreen Marketplace, in Washougal. It is one of several places that accepts usable clothing, toys and household goods.

Local residents who would like to contribute clothing they have outgrown or no longer wear have several options in the Camas-Washougal area.

Donation sites include:

East County Family Resource Center

Donations of clothing, hygiene products and non-perishable food for people and pets, are accepted at the East County Family Resource Center, 1702 “C” St., Washougal.

The center, a division of the Children’s Home Society of Washington, is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 1:30 to 5 p.m.

The next clothing/giving table distribution for needy families will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the basement of the resource center.

In order to participate, individuals must be registered with the resource center. The distribution effort is run by volunteers.

Renee Law, coordinator of the East County Family Resource Center, said the clothing/giving table effort has been going on for many years.

“We used to just have one table in our entrance way,” she said. “Now we gather and get rid of junk, etcetera, before organizing a giveaway.”

Inter-Faith Treasure House of Camas/Washougal

The donation box is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Non-perishable food is distributed to individuals and families in need, while clothing and household goods are sold in the Treasure House thrift store.

The money earned in the store helps fund the food and outreach programs.

The site is staffed daily, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“This is the busiest time of the year,” said Edie Islas, a donation attendant at the Washougal site.
