Judy Cusack, a certified interior custom designer, relaxes with her pug, Taxi. Cusack, of Washougal, recently received a "Best of Houzz" award for customer service. She is with Transitional Designs, LLC. "Taxi is always with me," Cusack said. "My clients get to know him, and some become new friends for him as well."

A certified interior custom designer who lives in Washougal has been recognized for providing outstanding customer service.

Judy Cusack, with Transitional Designs, LLC, has received a “Best of Houzz” award. Houzz is an online residential design database, that provides information about home remodeling and design professionals and products.

Honorees were voted on by home building, remodeling and design industry professionals.

The customer satisfaction honors are determined by a variety of factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received in 2014.

“The Houzz committee looks at a 50-mile radius from around the Portland Metro area,” Cusack said. “Out of the 558 interior designers in that area, they choose only 4 percent to honor with the Best of Houzz 2015 award in the categories for interior design and customer satisfaction service.”

She has had her own design business since 2001. Cusack does not have a store front.

She meet clients at their homes and businesses.

“I enjoy being able to make my clients see their vision and create them coming to fruition,” Cusack said.

She provides redesign and remodeling services, as well as custom furnishings, color consultation, and art, rug and accessory selection and arrangement.

Cusack also offers lighting and small project exterior design, kitchen and bathroom renovations and room layout.

“An interior designer’s job is to apply creative and technical solutions within a structure that are functional, attractive and that are beneficial to the client’s quality of life,” she said. “That can be as involved as building a home from the ground up or remodeling. Some may just be redesigning their spaces with new decor or working with what they may already have.

“Having a new set of eyes can bring new life to their surroundings,” Cusack added.
