An alpaca rouched hat, designed and created by Danielle Lee, is among the crocheted items available to purchase at Rain City Electrolysis & Boutique. Lee offers private and group lessons in knitting, crochet and needle felting.

The owner of Rain City Electrolysis & Boutique is a licensed electrologist and a designer and creator of knit couture.

Danielle Lee recently opened her business in the same building as Beauty Temptations, 2001 “E” St., Washougal.

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Lee said unwanted hair can be embarrassing and hurt a person’s self esteem and self image.

“Many people are just tired of waxing, tweezing or shaving,” she said. “Unlike laser, there are no limits to what electrolysis can do — eyebrows, upper lip, chin, underarms and bikini — I can work in any area on any hair color, even over tattoos.

“Whether it be just a few hairs or full legs, each treatment is completely tailored to individual needs,” Lee added.

She will host an open house Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m. It will include information about electrolysis, complimentary refreshments and opportunities to win prizes and gift certificates.

There will be a drawing to win a vest designed and created by Lee.

“The ‘Huntress Cowl’ is based on the cowl that Katniss wears in the ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,'” she said. “It’s been one of my biggest sellers.”

The open house will also include a design-a-hat contest. The person who submits the best hat idea will win a finished product of his or her design.

The Rain City Boutique has fiber arts designed and handmade by Lee. She offers private and group lessons in knitting, crochet and needle felting.

The boutique also has handcrafted soy and beeswax candles.

Rain City is open Wednesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Electrolysis is available by scheduled appointment. A complimentary, 15-minute consultation is available for all new clients.
