Family caregiver conference to be held Nov. 7

Topics will include quality care and food for energy and immunity

The author of “The Long Road Called Goodbye: Tracing the Course of Alzheimer’s” will be the keynote speaker at a conference for family caregivers.

Charlotte Akin will talk about characteristics of successful caregiving and the look of quality care in long-term care settings.

The conference will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in PeaceHealth Southwest’s Health Education Center, 400 N.E. Mother Joseph Place, Vancouver.

Other topics will be food for energy and immunity and the mindful caregiver. The workshop is for spouses, partners, adult children and friends of people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

The cost to attend is $10 per person, and registration is required. Scholarships are available.

The 12th annual event is sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington and PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. To register, call 694-8144.
