Allie Hancock sent Camas home happy Monday.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning of a tie game with Union, Hancock delivered a single into right field to help the Papermakers defeat their rivals 6-5.

“I swung through and saw the ball go,” Hancock said. “I could tell I got a hold of it.”

Ashley Grimanelis earned a walk with one out in the seventh. She stole second base and Alyssa Tomasini bunted her over to third.

Union walked Alexis Tiedy to load the bases. The best hitter for the Papermakers stepped up to the plate, and the Titans had no place to put her.

“I was smiling,” said Camas head coach Dale Lunde. “Allie has been doing it all season. No fear.”

Union led off the sixth inning with a home run to break a 4-4 tie. Katie Hanock kicked off the bottom half with a double. Allie Hancock followed with a single and took second base on the throw to third.

Payton Bates laced a single through the left side of the diamond to tie the score. She started a pickle with the second baseman. Allie Hanock snuck home to give Camas the lead.

“I was told to take second,” Bates said. “Once they threw over there, I stopped. It all worked out.”

Union tied the game again in the top of the seventh, before the Papermakers scored the winning run in the bottom half.
