CHS sets sixth-annual mattress fundraiser

Camas High School is hosting its annual mattress fundraiser on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the CHS commons, 26900 S.E. 15th St.

Every purchase benefits the high school’s band program. All sizes and styles of new mattresses will be available. Lay-away is offered, as well as delivery.

Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. The mattresses are being sold at up to 50 percent off retail prices.

Local earns degree from MSU

Brianna Ranck of Camas has earned a bachelor’s degree from Montana State University.

Commencement ceremonies were held in May at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman.

School supply lists available

Parents can find school supply lists at www.teacherlists.com.

They can also shop online from home, as the site automatically shares the lists with national retailers like Target and Staples.

The site includes lists for Canyon Creek Middle School, Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School, Dorothy Fox Elementary, Gause Elementary, Helen Baller Elementary, Lacamas Heights Elementary, Liberty Middle School, Mount Pleasant Elementary, Prune Hill Elementary, Skyridge Middle School, Washougal High School and Woodburn Elementary.

Parents can also print coupons for back-to-school savings.

Whitworth University names students to honor roll

William Tadlock and Logan Veasy of Camas have been named to the spring honor roll at Whitworth University in Spokane.

To be named to the honor roll, students must earn at least a 3.75 GPA during the semester.

Auditions open for Junior Symphony of Vancouver

There will be open auditions for orchestral/chamber music instrumentalists for the Junior Symphony of Vancouver on Monday, Sept. 19.

Auditions are by appointment only with application, which is available at www.oregonchamberplayers.org. The concert for this session will be held Saturday, Dec. 10.

Auditions are open to young musicians of southwest Washington and Oregon, in middle school through college. Call 696-4084 for more information.

‘Pokemon Go’ meet-up is Aug. 26 at the Camas library

A “Pokemon Go” meet-up event will be held Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., at the Camas Public Library.

Participants can meet other players and share tips and stories.

All ages are welcome. Children ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Crafts, coloring sheets and snacks will be available. Safety tips will be provided.

The library, located at 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., is a “Pokemon Go” gym.
