A farewell reception for out-going county councilors Tom Mielke and David Madore will immediately follow the Tuesday, Dec. 13, meeting of the Board of County Councilors.

The council meeting begins at 10 a.m., in the sixth-floor training room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be offered.

Mielke, who represents District 4 in north county, served four terms as a state representative from the 18th Legislative District before taking office as a county commissioner in January 2009. He was re-elected in 2013, and decided to retire when his term ends later this month. He is a former small business owner and decorated Vietnam War veteran.

Madore, who represents District 3 in east county, was elected county commissioner in November 2012 and took office in January 2013. He founded US Digital, a locally based company, and served as chief executive and engineer for 30 years.

The Dec. 13 meeting will be the last council meeting of 2016.

Republicans John Blom and Eileen Quiring, elected on Nov. 8 to Districts 3 and 4, respectively, will be sworn in on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m., in the Public Service Center’s hearing room.
