UNITE! sets January meeting

UNITE! Washougal Community Coalition will host its next meeting at noon, Thursday, Jan. 28 at Wild Flour Cafe and Cupcakes, 3010 Evergreen Way.The feature speaker will be a Liquor Control Board officer who will speak about liquor, tobacco and marijuana laws in Washington state.

Guiding Good Choices will begin Jan. 19

The ‘Guiding Good Choices,’ a five-week parenting workshop, will begin Tuesday, Jan. 19.

It is designed to keep parents connected with preteens as they encounter new situations and stages.

A free dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.

The free class runs from 6 to 8 p.m. each week. It will include free activities for children while the adults are in class.

Parenting workshops in January and February

‘Parenting Wisely,’ an interactive course designed by family specialists to empower parents with the tools necessary to engage children, will be offered for free in Washougal.

It emphasizes positive communication skills to enhance school and homework success, improve family relationships, parent-child bonding and reduce conflict.

Parenting Wisely meetings begin at 6 p.m. Free dinner will be provided at 5:30 p.m.

Meetings will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28 at Canyon Creek Middle School, 9731 Washougal River Road; and Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Jemtegaard Middle School, 35300 S.E. Evergreen Highway.
