Washington State University Vancouver will hold a Business Growth Alliance forum, focusing on employing the Blue Ocean Strategy, by W. Chan Kim and Rene Mauborgne.

The forum will be held from 8:30 to 10 a.m., Jan. 20, at Burgerville’s Center for Responsible Community Leadership, 1602 Main St., Vancouver.

The Blue Ocean Strategy outlines how businesses can develop unexplored industries and markets, map their competitive advantage, and break the cycle of value and cost trade-offs.

Presenter Michael Curry, professor of management information systems in the Carson College of Business, will discuss the Blue Ocean framework.

In addition, Zack Parnell, CEO of Industrial Training International, will explain how his company used this method to create a new market space. Work sessions will follow.

The Business Growth MAP Alliance brings together small businesses and entrepreneurs to learn from each other, industry experts and WSU faculty.

The meeting is open to the public. To register, visit business.vancouver.wsu.edu/bgmap/ and click the link under “Upcoming events.” Cost is $10 per person in advance or $15 per person at the door. There is no cost for students with a valid WSU student ID.
