The former owner of K’Syrah Catering, Wine and Bistro, in downtown Camas, has become an Allstate Insurance agent.

Kelly Huston-Bruce, of Washougal, has opened an office at 6700 N.E. 162nd Ave., Ste. 407, Vancouver.

The transition from owning a catering and wine business to operating an insurance agency involved “months of studying, testing and traveling to Chicago and Seattle for training,” Huston-Bruce said.

She closed K’Syrah in September 2014.

“Owning and operating a restaurant and catering company is a 24/7 job,” Huston-Bruce said. “I found that I was craving a new challenge, and I did a lot of soul searching to determine what career path I wanted to pursue.

“I still dabble in catering, because food and wine will always be my passion,” she added.

Huston-Bruce’s father, Denny Huston, is a former Allstate Insurance agent.

“I guess you can say that it was in my blood, and I felt that it would be a good fit,” she said. “I decided it was time to trade my apron in for business attire and use my marketing skills and business experience in a new industry.”

Huston-Bruce is available to provide quotes on home, auto or life insurance rates and review people’s current coverage, in person or by phone.

Additional Allstate products and services offered include flood, motorcycle and business insurance.
