OU announces fall dean’s list

Trevor Schauer of Camas has been named to the fall dean’s honor roll at Oklahoma University.

To be named to the list, a student must earn at least at least a 3.5 GPA, except for students in the engineering program, who must earn a 3.0 GPA or higher. Students in the architecture program must earn at least a 3.3 GPA.

Nonprofit is seeking local host families

ASSE International Student Exchange Programs is looking for local families to host boys and girls between the ages of 15 to 18 from a variety of countries.

The exchange students have pocket money for personal expenses and full health, accident and liability insurance. ASSE students are selected based on academics and personality, and host families can choose their student from a wide variety of backgrounds, countries and personal interests.

ESD 112 receives STEM grant

Washington STEM, in partnership with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, announced the first round of $4 million in grants to statewide schools, school districts, educational service districts, higher education institutions, nonprofits, and community based organizations to support computer science education.

ESD 112, which includes the Camas and Washougal school districts, was one of the education service districts to receive a grant.

The grants will make it possible for these recipients to provide professional development for teachers, obtain technology and expand access to girls and students from groups underrepresented in STEM. Grant recipients must partner with private organizations and individuals to receive a 1:1 match.

Local resident named to fall dean’s list

Kayla Hernstadt was named to the fall dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.

To be named to the list, students must earn at least a 3.5 GPA and in school full-time.

Camas students named to SPU dean’s list

Several local students made the Seattle Pacific University 2015 autumn quarter dean’s list.

To be named to the dean’s list, students must complete at least 12 credits and earn a 3.5 or better GPA.

Students include Nicholas Alexander Burton, Timothy Chang-Hua Liu, Megan Ruth Scott, Samantha Jayneen Kaulele Stevens, Jacob Richard Young and Jennifer Olive Young, all of Camas.

Local resident earns dean’s list honors

Lauren Lamb of Camas has been named to Azusa Pacific University’s dean’s list. To be named to the list, students must earn at least a 3.5 or better GPA.

Azusa Pacific University is located in Azusa, California.

CHS drama performs ‘Brigadoon’

Camas High School drama department performances of “Brigadoon,” continue this week.

Shows are scheduled for Friday, March 18, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at 7 p.m., at the Camas High School theater, 26900 S.E. 15th St.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and $7 for senior citizens, students and youth.

Hayes Freedom info night is March 24

An information night for prospective Hayes Freedom High School students and their parents will be held Thursday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m.
