A gym franchise that plans to open in downtown Washougal next year is inviting local residents to share ideas of how to burn Thanksgiving Day calories.

Anytime Fitness will donate one meal to Feeding America for each original photo or video submitted using the hashtag #BurnTheTurkey on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram through Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Feeding America is a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks.

“We want to help people get to a healthier place,” said Paul Billings, co-owner/franchisee of Anytime Fitness in Washougal. “That’s our mission.

“BurnTheTurkey is all about giving people the nod to go ahead and enjoy the big feast, but also to get creative and dream up fun ways to burn some of those calories,” he added.

Paul and his wife, Kendall, have signed a six-year lease for suite 148, in Washougal Town Square, 1700 Main St.

Paul’s sister, Carolyn Billings, owns 5 percent of the business. They plan to build a gym in the 6,297 square-foot space and open in late January or early February.
