Everest Krabbenhoft is collecting donations of money and toiletries to send to troops overseas for his Eagle Scout project. Lutz Hardware is one of the collection sites.

A Washougal High School senior is hoping to raise approximately $6,500 to send care packages to troops overseas.

Everest Krabbenhoft is constructing the packages as a part of his Eagle Scout project with Troop 562. He is seeking both monetary and in-kind donations.

“I did something similar to this when I was in Cub Scouts and I think it’s important to support our troops,” he said. “This is my way of giving back to our service men and women.”

Krabbenhoft’s uncle is in the Army, and helping him to coordinate sending the packages to Afghanistan.

“I am hoping to get this done by the end of December if possible,” he said.

Donations of travel-sized toiletries such as toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, deodorant, baby wipes, shampoo, conditioner, along with cards and envelopes, and money, can be dropped off at collection boxes at three locations. These are Lutz Hardware, 505 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas; Washougal River Mercantile, 4232 Canyon Creek Road; Washougal Hardware, 1822 Main St.

“It’s important to support people who put their lives on the line every day, and protect our rights and our country,” Krabbenhoft said.
