Donald Lawrence ‘Larry’ Stickley

February 16, 1945 ~ September 9, 2016

Donald Lawrence “Larry” Stickley passed away at the age of 71 on September 9, 2016. Larry was born on February 16, 1945 in Portland, Oregon, to his parents, Maxine and James Stickley. Larry had been a resident of Camas for the past 9 years, formerly of Benton City, WA.

As a concrete finisher, he contributed to the building of the dams along the Columbia River. A true gambler at heart, he also enjoyed reading, watching westerns and sports shows and being the biggest fan at his grandchildren’s sports games.

Larry is survived by his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Traci Petty of Vancouver, Tami and Mel Biggs of Los Baños, CA and Dawn and Pat Hunt of Camas; his grandchildren, Tyler Dean, Kelsey Taylor, Trevor Eugene, Kyle Erickson and Alexander James; his siblings, Carol Rood, Gerald Stickley and Susan Summers. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a baby brother, and his granddaughter, Jessica Rhea. At his request, there will be no funeral service.

Scott D. DeMoss

Scott D. DeMoss died Sept. 4, 2016. He was 54.

A private memorial service will be held for immediate family and close friends.

Rosemary ‘Rosie’ Jo Buhrmester

Rosemary “Rosie” Jo Buhrmester died Sept. 6, 2016, at home in Washougal. She was 65.

A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at noon at Lacamas Lake Lodge, 227 N.E. Lake Road, in Camas. Lunch will follow. Brown’s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of arrangements.

Aaron R. Nichols

Aaron Robert Nichols, beloved son, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, died  Sept. 14, 2016.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held  Friday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3017 N.W. 18th Ave., in Camas.

Jon Stephens

Jon Stephens unexpectedly died in his Ohio apartment, after recently moving there to pursue a degree in welding-engineering. He was 25.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at Grace Church, 717 S.E. Everett St., Camas. The service will be officiated by Greg Goostree of Harvest Community Church.

Robert L. Peterson

Robert Lee Peterson died Sept. 15, 2016, in Camas. He was 92.

Graveside services, conducted by Pastor Toddrick Futter, were held Sept. 21, at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Straub’s Funeral Home and Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of arrangements.

Justin J. Lansing Rae-Thornton

Justin James Lansing Rae-Thornton died peacefully at home with his loving family surrounding him, Sept. 15, 2016, after a bravely fought battle against cancer. He was 24.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, at 4:30 p.m., at the Crossroad Community Church in Vancouver. Brown’s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of arrangements.

Marian Ardell Halvorson died peacefully Sept. 13, 2016, at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. She was 92.

A graveside service was held Sept. 16 at 11 a.m., at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
