The Camas-Washougal Fire Marshal said the most probable cause of the fire at Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. (ADS), in Washougal, was electrical.

“An electrical line had draped itself on top of one of the piles, where an electrical arc from the wires started the fire,” Ron Schumacher said Monday.

Emergency crews responded to a fire at ADS Friday, July 28, at about 8 p.m.

ADS is located at South Index and 35th streets, in the Port of Camas-Washougal Industrial Park.

Port of C-W Executive Director David Ripp said no buildings were involved.

“It is ADS’s storage yard for their pipe,” he said.

A second alarm was called off as a total of eight engines responded from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department (CWFD), the Vancouver Fire Department and East County Fire and Rescue.

CWFD Fire Chief Nick Swinhart said the first arriving crews found a large commercial fire burning through a storage yard of plastic pipes.

Swinhart said the fire was quickly confined to the area of origin and was extinguished by 9 p.m. There were no injuries.

ADS has leased the storage yard from the port since 1999.
