Historical items, including a 1964 desktop calendar, were on display during the Washougal Lumber customer appreciation luncheon.
Owners of Washougal Lumber Co., Inc. — past and present — recently celebrated the company’s centennial birthday by thanking the people who helped the business survive challenging economic times.
The business’ current owners, Brett Scott and his brother Kevin Scott, were at the celebration, along with their parents and former Washougal Lumber owners, John and Judy Scott.
“This is in appreciation of all the good people who kept it going during the terrible economic times,” Judy said. “We are just glad to be here.”
Brett estimated between 300 and 400 people attended the celebration throughout the day on Aug. 4.
“This place would not exist without the great local support of the community,” Brett said. “They support this and other locally owned businesses.
“We give back to thank them,” he added.
Washougal Lumber sells hammers, mailboxes, shovels and WD-40, as well as paint, plywood, metal roofing and plumbing and electrical supplies.
Brett’s dog, Kona, an 8-year-old yellow labrador retriever, is the greeter at the lumber and hardware store.
