Danielle Browning, owner of The Beauty Room in downtown Camas, prepares to wax a client’s eyebrows. In addition to waxing services, Browning, a licensed esthetician, provides acne treatments.

Looking to get rid of unwanted hair or banish acne for good in 2018? A new Camas salon may be able to help.

The Beauty Room, which opened earlier this year in downtown Camas, near the corner of Northeast Fourth Avenue and Northeast Dallas Street, offers acne treatments for clients of all ages, as well as a full menu of waxing services.

Owner Danielle Browning brings more than 15 years’ worth of waxing and skin care experience to the new business. Before opening her own salon, Browning worked in a variety of settings — including a skin care clinic, day spa and the Allison Inn and Spa, in Newberg, Oregon.

A licensed esthetician and waxing specialist for more than 15 years, Browning is now offering her acne treatment program — geared toward clients of all ages who experience mild to severe acne — as well as eyebrow, Brazilian, back, lip, chin, ear, nose, chest, stomach and underarm waxing; lash and eyebrow tints; and eyebrow shaping.

Browning’s journey toward opening The Beauty Room is not conventional. In fact, the esthetician says she had been drawn to helping special needs students since her days as a high school volunteer with Special Olympics, so she had originally planned to become a special education teacher and use her skin care and waxing skills as a source of income to get her through college and eventually become a special education teacher.

Browning earned her esthetician license and associate’s degree from Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, in 2001. Although she had planned to continue her education, Browning says she quickly learned that she enjoyed helping people with problematic skin and that, although she hadn’t become a special education teacher, she was, in a way, still working in education.

“I found my place in education — educating the clients on how to care and heal their skin,” she says.

To keep up on the ever-changing skin care industry, Browning participates in continuing education courses.

In fact, her love of teaching and learning about new products led Browning into the world of holistic skincare, and she spent nine years as an Eminence Organic Skin Care educator.

“I was studying the skin and how ingredients influence and change the skin,” Browning says. “My passion is education and empowering others to be the change within their own situation.”
