The Washougal Arts and Culture Alliance is seeking submissions of “Washougal inspired” works of art to be featured on its annual Washougal Art Festival poster.

“We are inviting artists of all mediums to submit original art to be considered,” said WACA President Janice Ferguson.

The 2016 Washougal Art Festival poster featured an original oil painting of Dougan Falls on the Washougal River, by artist Liz Pike.

“It is important to WACA that the art selected for the poster truly represent some aspect of the beauty and energy of Washougal,” said Angela Ridgway, a metal artist and WACA member.

The alliance will select artwork for the 2017 event, as well as for several future years. The poster image will be credited to the artist and extensively used in various print mediums and online marketing channels.

Ownership and copyright of selected artworks will be maintained by the artist, who will agree to allow WACA to use the image for marketing and fundraising purposes.

The festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, in Reflection Plaza, 1703 Main St.

In 2016, the first-time event included more than 20 artists showcasing watercolor paintings, jewelry and photography. There were also dance groups, live music and children’s activities.

The deadline for submission of art for the festival poster is Wednesday, March 1. For application information, visit www.washougalarts.org.
