Free haircuts for Washougal students

The Hathaway Booster Club will offer free haircuts to any student in the Washougal School District from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11.

The haircuts will be done at Hathaway Elementary School, 630 24th St.

Organizers are still looking for stylists to help with the haircuts.

Rosa Clemente will be keynote speaker at Clark

Rosa Clemente will be the keynote speaker for the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration event at Clark College. It will be held in the Gaiser Student Center from noon to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Clark College is located at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver.

Clemente, co-founder of the National Hip-Hop Political Convention and a leading scholar on Afro-Latinx identity, is a frequent guest on television, radio and online media.

Her article, “Who is Black?,” published in 2001, was the catalyst for many discussions regarding blackness in the Latinx culture, according to a press release. She continues to discuss cultural identity, political identity and racial identity.
