Port of Camas-Washougal commissioners have approved a $1.22 million purchase of 2.25 acres of waterfront land from Parker’s Landing LLC.

The property is located just north of Washougal Waterfront Park and Trail, on part of the former Hambleton Lumber Company property.

Killian Pacific President Lance Killian represents Parker’s Landing. Killian Pacific is interested in purchasing 8.5 acres of the Port-owned land on the east end of the waterfront, for potential rental residential development.

The Port is not chartered to be involved in residential development that does not have commercial or retail businesses tied to it.

The Port Commission had been scheduled to hold a special meeting Nov. 13, to discuss the potential sale of land to Parker’s Landing LLC, as well as the Port’s possible purchase of 11 acres from the LLC.

The special session was cancelled on Nov. 9, after it was decided there was no need to hold an additional meeting to approve the purchase and sale agreements, according to Port Executive Director David Ripp.

The Port of Camas-Washougal Commissioners will review the agreements during their next regular meeting at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Port Commissioner Larry Keister said waterfront development will be highly beneficial for the community.

“It will bring in jobs and tourist attractions — art galleries, conference centers, restaurants, coffee shops and a brewpub,” he said, regarding potential development options.
