Curtis Earl Hughey
March 29, 1929 ~ Nov. 19, 2017

Curtis passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, and joins Beverley in the arms of our Lord. “Curt” has two kids, Mark and Carolyn, five grandkids (Ivan, Russell, Tracy, Amanda, and William, eight great-grandkids, and one great-great-grandchild. His brother Roland lives in North Carolina.

Born in Brooklyn, Curt came out to Camas in approximately 1945 to live with Grandma Asher and graduate from Camas High School. Continuing to Clark College, he found Beverley and got married. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a Boy Scout leader young in life and later became a Little League and Babe Ruth coach. He was proud to have helped establish the Fern Prairie Fire Department and served 30 years as its secretary.

Upon completing a career as a millwright at the Camas paper mill, he became involved with the Camas-Washougal Historical Society, serving 16 years as its president. Curt and Bev were selected as Mr. and Mrs. Camas for Camas Days in 2003.

Friends were invited to attend Curt’s service at Brown’s Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 27, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the C-W Historical Society.

Henry L. Golliher

Henry Lee Golliher died peacefully in his Washougal home on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017. He was 97. Henry was born on Aug. 7, 1920, in Meade, Kansas.

A private graveside service has already been held.

Rudie Klopman-Baerselman

Rudie Klopman-Baerselman died on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017. He was 80. Rudie was born on Jan. 11, 1937, in Surabaya, Indonesia, to Charlotte Augenstein and Steven Gerrit Klopman-Baerselman.

Christy D. Johnston

Christy Denise Johnston died on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, in Washougal. She was 44. Christy was born on March 16, 1973, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Allen and Lynn (Poplinger) Johnston. She was a resident of Washougal for 25 years.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, at Radiant Church, 2717 N.E. Third Ave., Camas. Interment will be held at Fern Prairie Cemetery, 25700 N.E. Robinson Road, Camas.

Virginia M. Anderson

Virginia M. Anderson passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017. She was 94.

Private services have already been held. Straub’s Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy A. (Clark) Burchett

Dorothy Alice (Clark) Burchett died on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona. She was 87. Dorothy was born in Vancouver on Dec. 31, 1929. She was a Camas-Washougal resident for 65 years.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, at Washougal United Methodist Church, 4020 “M” St., Washougal.

Margaret C. Holland

Margaret Cecelia Holland died in her Washougal home on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017. She was 75. Margaret was born in Hood River, Oregon, on Oct. 31, 1942, to Harry and Ruby Fisher. She moved from Lebanon, Oregon, to Camas in 1981, and then moved to Washougal in 1997.

At Margaret’s request, there will be no service.

Gyla Y. Murdock

Gyla Y. Murdock died on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, in Camas. She was 89. Gyla was born on April 9, 1928, in Portland to Guy and Ruby (Hilyard) Masterson.

A memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in Gyla’s memory to PeaceHealth Southwest, P.O. Box 2516, Vancouver, WA 98668.
