Washougal River Road has reopened to two-way traffic this morning.

The road closed late Thursday, Oct. 19, near milepost 4, after a  landslide pushed rocks onto the main roadway, and remained closed throughout the weekend.

County officials reported today that a Clark Public Utilities contractor has removed a fir tree “that appeared to have been undermined by the slide,” and said that, although the road is open to traffic, “the potential for more material to fall onto the road remain.”

Officials are urging drivers to be on the lookout for falling debris and to report any possible slides to Public Works at 360-397-2446. For life-threatening emergencies, call 911.
