Downtown Camas Association members applauded the 5 1/2 year lease renewal of the Liberty Theatre Friday, involving Rand Thornsley (left), managing director of the Liberty, and Marilyn and Gary Webberley (far right), owners of the Liberty building, located at 315 N.E. Fourth Ave. Greg Goforth, a commercial and residential broker with Windermere Crest Realty, Co., of Camas, said the previous lease had been scheduled to end in April 2018. Thornsley credited the Liberty's diversified programming -- including digital concert events, theatrical stage-to-screen shows, classics and documentary programs -- with minimizing his company's losses, compared to those experienced by larger theater chains. "Some new programs, like mommy matinees, are also being considered," he said. "We will continue to offer all of the best Hollywood films, as we have in the past as well."
