East County Fire and Rescue (ECFR) fireman shows a group of youngsters where a tank of air goes on a fire engine while on a tour of the truck during the annual East County Fire and Rescue open house, Sunday, July 29. ECFR recently adopted a resolution for a proposition to be submitted to voters Nov. 6, authorizing the district to restore its 2018 regular property tax levy to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for collection in 2019 to establish a 6-percent limit factor for the following five years.

ART GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS

Second Story Gallery: During the months of August and September, the watercolors and oils of Mary Alred and Julie Ann Smith will be on display. The gallery, located at 625 N.E. Camas Public Library: The Forever Young Book Group will meet Thursday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 7:45 p.m., at the Starbucks on 192nd near QFC. SENIOR CITIZENS

Meals on Wheels: Lunches, prepared by The Meals on Wheels People, are served at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, in the Washougal Community Center, at 1681 “C” St., Washougal. Meals on Wheels home delivery is available Monday through Friday. Volunteers are needed. Camas Senior Center: The annual senior center tour bus trip to Long Beach, Washington, for the Kite Festival will be on Friday, Aug. 24. The bus will depart from Pendleton Woolen Mill, in Washougal, at 8:30 a.m. A shopping trip to Black Buggy will be made on the way back. There is a $5 fee and reservations are required. Washougal Senior Center: The Washougal Senior Center provides coffee from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and Meals on Wheels serves lunch at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday. On Mondays, at 11 a.m., the center hosts a food bank, and then at 1 p.m., there is a “hand and foot” clinic. At 10 a.m., on Mondays and Wednesdays, the center hosts an exercise class, which also is held in Camas at 10 a.m. on Fridays. Billiards is played at 1 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, the center hosts “Music with Jeffree,” and at 11 a.m. on Thursdays, “Music with Gabe.” The watercolor class is held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. On Wednesdays, there is an exercise class at 10 a.m., gift bingo at 11 a.m., and regular bingo at 1 p.m. On Thursdays, the tai chi class (held in Camas) begins at 9:30 a.m. The center also hosts pinochle at 1 p.m. on Thursdays.

VOLUNTEERS

Two Rivers Heritage Museum: The museum is seeking volunteer docents for four-hour shifts to welcome guests and provide museum tours, as well as a social media manager and board secretary.
