Early morning fire damages Washougal garage

Occupants escape without injuries

Camas-Washougal firefighters responded to an early morning garage fire in Washougal Thursday, Dec. 13.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:30 a.m., to a reported structure fire on the 4000 block of “C” Street.

When they arrived, they found an active fire burning in an attached garage of a home. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control. East County Fire and Rescue units also responded and assisted the C-W firefighters.

The occupants were home when the fire started, but they were able to evacuate without injuries. There was significant smoke and fire damage to the contents of the garage and smoke damage to the rest of the structure.

Camas-Washougal Fire Marshal Ron Schumacher is investigating the cause of the fire.
