Katherine Mae Young
Aug. 20, 1930~April 29, 2018

Katherine Mae Young, 87, of Camas, passed away on April 29, 2018, at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver.

Katherine was born in Kelso, Washington, to Theodore and Katherine terHorst on August 20, 1930. She completed the ninth grade and then stayed home to help raise her younger brothers and sisters.

In her 40s, she and her sisters, Loretta and Barbara, went to Clark College to get their GEDs. Katherine worked for Crown Zellerbach Corporation in the napkin department and took an early retirement to care for her daughter, Debbie, and grandsons, Paul and Michael Severns. She loved knitting, playing board games and spending time with her grandchildren.

Katherine is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Terry Gray of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Paula and David Lee of Washougal; grandchildren, Colleen and Corina Coggins, and Paul and Michael Severns. Along with three great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Sorrells, Tyler Edenshaw and Dylan Simpson, and brother, Bernie terHorst.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Young; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Frank Severns; parents, Theodore and Katherine terHorst; siblings, Bob, Tony, Leo, Ken and Paul terHorst; and sisters, Loretta Bright and Barbara Schuh.

Funeral services will be help at Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas, on Thursday, May 24, at 2 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Camas Cemetery.

We will miss you, Mom and Nana. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Alta J. Hanson

Alta Jean Hanson died on Thursday, May 10, 2018, in Newberg, Oregon. She was 94. Jean was born on April 12, 1924, in Burke, South Dakota. She was a Camas-Washougal resident for 75 years.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 20, at Chahalem Cultural Center, 415 E. Sheridan St., Newberg, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Twin Rocks Friends Camp, 18705 US-101, Rockaway Beach, OR 97136, or The Hanson Scholarship, George Fox College, 414 N. Meridian St., Newberg, OR 97132.

Helen D. Boni

Helen Dale Boni, of Washougal, died on Friday, May 11, 2018. She was 101. Helen was born on Dec. 11, 1916, in Baker City, Oregon.
