Carolyn Irene Pillette
October 27, 1963 ~ December 12, 2018

Carolyn Irene Pillette — A much loved daughter, sister, aunt, partner, and friend — passed away peacefully on December 12, 2018, at the age of 55. She had bravely confronted and fought cancer and now rests pain free with her dad and mom, Jim and Dorothy.

Carolyn was born on October 27, 1963, in Spokane, Washington, and resided in Ketchikan, Alaska, with her partner, Colleen Coggins, for the past 12 years. She graduated from Camas High School in 1982 and subsequently earned her certification in Phlebotomy.

Carolyn was a born nurturer which started during high school as her being a lifeguard at the Camas Community Pool, then as a full-time nanny in Trenton, New Jersey, for two doctors and their two children, she then was a certified phlebotomist at The Vancouver Clinic, and eventually caregiver for her mother who sadly passed away from her battle with COPD.

Carolyn loved to laugh, have fun and make people smile. She had a light-filled, wonderful soul and it showed through her daily endeavors. She is terribly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 26, at The Salud Event Center from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. (224 NE 3rd Avenue, in Camas).

Mary Josephine (McNett) Mason
April 3, 1933 ~ January 14, 2019

Mary found her eternal rest, the youngest of eight siblings, to be joined again with all her nuclear family in the arms of the Lord.

She was born in Circle, Montana, to Lon Francis and Theresa (Tress) McNett. Soon afterward, during the height of the Great Depression, the family traveled west, eventually homesteading in Fern Prairie. She enjoyed family and friends as she lived in the Camas-Washougal area all the years of her long and loving life.

Mary Jo graduated from the Providence Academy in Vancouver, Washington, in 1951. Shortly afterward, she found William (Bill) Dennis Mason, the love of her life, and they married September 8, 1951. They were together for 55 years until Bill’s passing in 2006.

Mother Mary was a homemaker throughout her life, nurturing her four children, Susie, Billy Jr., Sandy (Jeff) and Eddy (Shari), along with her 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. As a licensed foster parent she brought other children into her modest home as her children grew.

A member of St. Thomas Aquinas in Camas from 1937, Mary was also active in the St. Thomas Women’s Guild as well as the Catholic Daughters of America. She dearly loved her extended church family and all her time spent there.

Mom loved to dance. She was active in team sports including bowling, softball, basketball, as well as the drum and bugle corps in her younger years. Upon his retirement, she enjoyed her time with Bill as snowbirds, along with many fishing trips to County Line.

Mary is survived by her four children and all grand- and great-grandchildren.
