This oil painting, titled "Through the Doorway at Steigerwald Refuge," will be auctioned during September at Second Story Gallery, located upstairs in the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas. The local artist, Cheryl Mathieson, notes that this artful steel gateway is a real door into the refuge that may soon disappear while the area is closed and reworked for water flow improvements. The painting will be a reminder of how the trail system once looped through the lowlands. Mathieson is offering the artwork in a silent auction, with bids accepted through 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28. All proceed benefit Second Story Gallery. The 16-by-24-inch canvas is framed in deep bronze and can be found on an easel in the gallery, in front of artwork by 15 Northwest Oil Painters Guild artists.
