Thanksgiving meal deliveries to homebound seniors are going to look a little different this year. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Meals on Wheels People will not be delivering meals on Thanksgiving Day. All homebound seniors who request a holiday meal will receive one earlier in the week along with their regular weekly meal delivery.
To ensure that no senior will be lonely on Thanksgiving Day, Meals on Wheels is recruiting 500 volunteers to make calls to homebound elderly on Thanksgiving as part of the Friendly Chats program, a popular initiative launched by Meals on Wheels People in the spring as a way of reducing isolation among homebound seniors during the pandemic.
