‘Teddy bear picnic’ to be held in Washougal

Blankets For Friends, a local volunteer group that collects blankets for homeless cats and dogs living in shelters, will hold a A “teddy bear picnic” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 10, at Washougal’s American Legion Hall, 10221 Washougal River Road.

The free event will feature a variety of activities and attractions such as a photo booth, costume contest, prize drawings and a donation center where attendees can drop off blankets and towels.

“The blankets help provide comfort until adopted and goes with (the cats and dogs) to help provide comfort while adjusting to their new family,” according to a news release. “We need new or gently used clean blankets and bath-sized/larger towels.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring their “teddy bear” or favorite stuffed friend.
