The Washougal School District has opened registration for its preschool programs for the 2021-22 school year.

Morning classes, held for 2.5 hours every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, will serve 3-year-olds and young 4-year-olds. Afternoon pre-kindergarten classes will be available to 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds that will be attending kindergarten the following school year for three hours every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

“Our curriculum supports ‘whole child’ instruction with purposeful play, structured activities and hands-on teaching of math, science, literacy, physical education, creative arts, music, and social/emotional skills,” Lisa Young, the district’s extended learning manager, said. “We have highly qualified teachers who provide a depth of experience and commitment to kindergarten readiness. It is a safe and nurturing environment that recognizes each student’s unique abilities.”

Classes are located at Cape Horn-Skye, Columbia River Gorge, Gause and Hathaway elementary schools.

Class times vary based on the school location, and busing will be available after school within the school boundary, according to the news release.
