Humane society raises $7,000 for ‘Betty White Challenge’

Washougal’s West Columbia Gorge Humane Society (WCGHS) raised $7,000 earlier this month for the Betty White Challenge, a viral grassroots campaign that encouraged people to donate to local animal rescues and shelters in honor of what would have been the late actor Betty White’s 100th birthday on Monday, Jan. 17.

White, an outspoken animal lover and animal welfare advocate, passed away on Friday, Dec. 31.

“It has truly been amazing to see so many (people) celebrate an amazing woman in such a huge way,” the WCGHS wrote in a Jan. 17 Facebook post.
