The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Washougal Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, has located and captured an escaped inmate.

The Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release issued Thursday, June 23, that law enforcement agencies had been seeking Cody Alan Bliss, 28, of Carson, Washington, an inmate who escaped from a supervised in-custody work crew assignment near the Bonneville Dam in June 2021.

According to the news release, Bliss had been serving time for felony eluding and is suspected of committing other crimes in Clark and Skamania counties after his escape.

The law enforcement agencies found Bliss at a Washougal apartment complex on June 15, and took him into custody without incident.

Police also arrested Courtney M. Palmer, 31, of Stevenson, Washington, at the Washougal apartment on an active felony warrant out of Skamania County Superior Court for rendering criminal assistance.

Bliss and Palmer were both taken to the Skamania County Jail following their arrests.
