The death of a woman discovered on a rural Camas property near Northeast Winters Road and Northeast 86th Street on Sunday, Oct. 9, is being investigated as a homicide.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said Tuesday, Oct. 11, that several people touring the vacant property with a real estate agent on Sunday discovered “what they believed to be a deceased person” and called 911.

Responding deputies called for the CCSO’s Major Crimes Unit for a homicide investigation after determining the woman had what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives interviewed area residents, collected evidence and identified a possible person of interest, according to a CCSO news release. On Monday, Oct. 10, detectives learned that their person of interest had been found dead from an apparent suicide in Oregon.

As of this newspaper’s publication deadline on Wednesday, Oct. 12, the Clark County Major Crimes Unit, with the help of several Oregon police departments, was still investigating the woman’s death and had not released any names or other details.
