The Camas Parks and Recreation Department’s popular “Movies in the Park” series returned this month with a showing of the classic movie, “The Karate Kid” on Friday, Aug. 11, at Crown Park.

The free movie series continues each Friday in August in Crown Park, located at Northeast Everett Street and Northeast 17th Avenue in Camas, with pre-movie activities — including child-friendly crafts and/or games — occurring one hour before showtime and movies beginning at dusk.

This remaining 2023 “Movies in the Park” lineup includes:

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (PG) at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18; and

“Luca” (PG) at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.

Attendees are welcome to bring dinner or snacks. They also can purchase novelty treats (i.e. popcorn, candy, etc.) at the event. Attendees also are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating and should note that, to allow fair viewing, chairs are placed in one-half of the park viewing area and blankets in the other half.

Alcohol is not allowed in Crown Park. This is a free event with no registration required.

Camas United Methodist Church, PFLAG Southwest Chapter and Discovery Dental are sponsors of the 2023 Movies in the Park series.
