The Camas School District has announced the next associate principal of its Dorothy Fox and Grass Valley elementary schools. Ryan Scott, who most recently worked as an assistant principal at Evans Elementary School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is joining the Camas School District (CSD) ahead of the 2023-24 school year.

“Together, we are confident that we will continue to create an inclusive and thriving educational experience for every student in our care,” CSD Superintendent John Anzalone told Camas families and staff in an announcement regarding Scott’s hiring that went out to the community earlier this month through the district’s ParentSquare system.

Anzalone added that Scott’s “expertise, passion for education and commitment to student success make him the ideal candidate for the position.”
“His experience and achievements at Evans Elementary School (in Colorado) showcase his ability to lead and inspire teams, drive positive change and foster a positive learning environment for students and staff,” Anzalone said.
Scott earned his masters of education degree in guidance and counseling from City University and also holds a masters certificate in teaching from Lipscomb University and Teach for America, as well as a masters-level principal certification from Lamar University.

In the announcement sharing news of Scott’s hiring, Anzalone said the new assistant principal’s experience at Evans Elementary School in Colorado — a school where 60% of students qualified for free and reduced lunches — will be beneficial in Camas.

“One of (Scott’s) significant achievements at Evans Elementary has been his dedication to improving employee engagement and satisfaction. Employee engagement saw a remarkable improvement through his focus on behavioral support and school systems improvement,” Anzalone said. “(Scott also is) credited with establishing and leading the Evans Instructional Leadership Team, which played a vital role in defining the instructional areas of focus for the 2022-23 academic year. Under his guidance, the team successfully created vertical alignment for writing best practices, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to instruction across grade levels.”
