Decorated trees are displayed during the Washougal School Foundation's Festival of Trees event in December 2019.

The Washougal School Foundation will hold its annual Festival of Trees event from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Hathaway Elementary School.

The event will feature Christmas trees, created by school and community groups, gift baskets and other items, which will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

The net proceeds from the festival are distributed to support activities at each of the Washougal schools through booster groups and other organizations supporting enrichment for students, according to the event’s website.

“Each school contributes to the festival and receives whatever amount the winning bids were from their efforts,” the website states. “The remainder of the proceeds from the event are equally divided among the schools. Each school determines where the funds can best meet the needs of their boys and girls.”
