The Hockinson High School band program will host the ninth annual North County Honor Bands concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the school’s auditorium, 16819 NE 159th St. Brush Prairie. The concert is free and open to the public, and will provide attendees with an opportunity to “listen to the great music our local students are creating,” according to a news release.

Approximately 150 student musicians will participate in the honor bands, representing seven high schools and 14 middle schools from the Battle Ground, Camas, Hockinson, La Center, Ridgefield, Washougal and Woodland school districts.

“They were recommended by their band director and selected on the basis of their ability and accomplishments,” the news release states. “Many local band directors also accompany their students to the event, which serves as a useful observation opportunity for area band directors.”

The middle school honor band will be directed by Rex Putnam High School band director Jeff Wilson, and the high school honor band will be directed by Erik Leung, director of bands at Oregon State University.
