FVRLibraries’ levy lid lift seems assured to pass after gaining more ground in election results released Thursday, Aug. 7.
The third round of ballot counts show the measure with 53,638 “yes” votes, or 54.11 percent of votes cast across the four-county library district. The number of “no” votes grew to 45,490, or 45.89 percent, according to a districtwide update posted to the Clark County Elections office website Thursday afternoon.
The elections office still has an estimated 300 ballots remaining to be processed.
The measure appeared on the ballot in Clark, Klickitat, Cowlitz and Skamania counties. Clark County voters passed the measure with 54.32 percent (49,122 votes), while 45.68 percent (41,314 votes) voted against the measure. The measure is also passing in Klickitat and Skamania counties as of the latest update.
If the measure passes, the levy rate would be restored to 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. The owner of a $500,000 house would pay $250 in 2026.
The levy requires a simple majority to pass.
