Camas, Christ win at gymnastics meet

Union senior wins all-around, Camas takes team title

Union senior Carly Christ won the all-around title and Camas was the top team for a second consecutive weekend in a meet at Naydenov Gymnastics on Saturday.

Christ won the balance beam, placed second in the bars and third in the floor exercise to finish with a score of 34.8. She placed fourth in the all-around competition in the Class 4A state meet as a junior.

Olivia Aguirre of Camas was second in the all-around competition with a score of 34.45. She placed second in the floor, second in the vault and third in the uneven bars.

Camas had two individual winners. Maya Richardson won the floor exercise with a 9.5 and Madison Bohac won the uneven bars in 9.2.

Lila Vitasovic of Columbia River won the vault with a score of 8.9.

The Papermakers were the top team with 165.15 points. Columbia River was second (163.9) and Union was third (150.75).

Camas topped its score of 160.95 from last week, when the Papermakers also topped Union and Columbia River at Naydenov.

Boys Swimming

Camas senior Owen Yam won four events at the 15th annual spring pentathlon at Mark Morris High School.

Yam won the 200 yard IM, the 25 free, the 100 backstroke and the 25 breast-stroke.

Fellow Camas senior Atali’i Seumalo tied Yam with 80 points to top all point scorers. His lone win came in the unique 25-yard IM, in which swimmers must complete all four strokes in one length of the pool.

Cullen Kahler of Union won two events, the 100 free and 200 free.
