The Camas City Council has approved a 3-year bargaining agreement with the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), which represents about 15 Camas Public Library employees.

The new contract is effective through 2027, and includes annual cost-of-living increases between 2 percent and 4.5 percent, to be determined by the regional consumer price index.

Camas Administrative Services Director Jennifer Gorsuch said the new contract will cost the city an estimated $20,000 in 2025, which is already included in the city’s 2025-26 budget.

The unionized library employees’ previous contract expired at the end of 2024. OPEIU ratified the new bargaining agreement earlier this month and Camas City Council members unanimously approved the contract during the Council’s regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 3.
