Older adults throughout Clark County are invited to attend the annual Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) picnic from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Lacamas Lake Lodge, 227 N.E. Lake Road, Camas.

The free event is open to all older adults and caregivers in Clark County. Camas Police Department staff will serve fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, fruit and ice cream. The event also will feature a therapy llama and the Camas Police Department’s new therapy dog.

SALT is a cooperative effort among the Camas and Vancouver police departments, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and older adults and their caretakers in Clark County. The group’s purpose is to decrease crime as well as the fear of crime amongst older adults, identify community concerns, improve victim assistance for older adults and involve older community members in crime prevention efforts.

The group hosts speakers at monthly meetings held at 11 a.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the Camas Police Department, 2100 N.E. Third Ave., Camas, and at 11 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month at 40 & 8 Boxcar Room, 2809 N.E. 78th St., Vancouver.
