The cities of Camas and Washougal will host information sessions to discuss a regional fire authority proposal voters will see on their April 22 special election ballot.

The sessions will provide opportunities for residents to hear from experts, learn about the proposal and ask questions before casting a vote, according to a news release.

Three in-person sessions will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11 at Camas-Washougal Fire Station 42, 4321 N.W. Parker St., Camas; 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 at the Washougal Community Center, 1681 C St., Washougal; and 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 8 at the Port of Camas-Washougal, 24 A St., Washougal. Online webinars will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 and from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 19.

The regional fire authority (RFA) would be an independent agency with one governing board that represents residents in both cities.

Camas and Washougal officials say the RFA would offer a higher level of service for residents, streamline operations and provide a more cost-effective funding model.
