East County Fire and Rescue commissioners voted Wednesday to place an emergency medical services levy before voters on the August ballot, according to a social media post from the agency.

The measure seeks to renew for another six years the district’s EMS levy of 35 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value last approved by voters in 2020.

The funds are used to support emergency response and medical care throughout the district.

East County Fire and Rescue serves 10,500 people over 60 square miles in southeast Clark County, north of Camas and Washougal.

District officials are seeking residents to serve on committees that will write statements for the voter pamphlet. Each group will have up to three members to draft arguments for or against the proposal.

Interested residents are invited by East County Fire and Rescue to call Chief Steve Black at 360-834-4908 by May 7.

Final statements are due to Clark County election officials the following day.
