County to offer free composter-recycling training in 2024
The Downtown Camas Association is kicking off its first First Friday of 2024 this week with a host of mystery-themed festivities from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, throughout downtown Camas.
Camas School District: The Camas School Board will hold a workshop at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, in the Dennison Board Room of the Zellerbach Administration Center, 841 N.E. 22nd Ave., Camas. Whether it was the local library celebrating its 100th anniversary with a year’s worth of events, Camas teachers going on strike for the very first time, the critical Washougal school levies that failed in February, then passed muster with voters in the spring, or the re-opening of the newly revamped Camas skatepark, there was no shortage of hyperlocal, Camas-Washougal news in 2023.
A Port of Camas-Washougal commissioner is questioning the quality of customer service at the Washougal Transfer Station, a solid waste and recycling center located at 4020 S. Grant St., in Washougal, that is governed by a contract between Clark County and Columbia Resource Company, a division of Waste Connections of Washington.
It was early in the morning on Nov. 23 — the last day of school before Thanksgiving break — and Washougal High School students stood outside their school, next to a large cart filled with cups of hot chocolate, waiting patiently for school buses to arrive.
