Sami Anderson and Haley Briggs bounced back from their first lost set in stunning fashion. The two Washougal High School seniors beat Ridgefield's Sarah Kaufman and Sophie Bird 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 for the 2A sub-district doubles championship Saturday, in Longview.

Washougal School Board member Teresa Lees keeps kids entertained with a bubble machine as they wait for their turn to run the Student Stride for Education on Saturday. According to event coordinator Stephanie Eakins, the 12th annual fundraiser, held in Fishback Stadium at Washougal High School, included 592 participants and 113 race day volunteers. Initial tallies indicate that approximately $16,000 was raised to support classroom grants to benefit students in the district's schools. The presenting sponsor was Discovery Dental.
