‘TOPSoccer Coach of the Year’: Camas coach nets award

The head coach of a Camas High boys’ swim team that won back-to-back state titles in 2017 and 2018 is enjoying training the current Papermakers, as well as Washougal High Panthers who also have competed at the state level.
Five years ago, Camas High School (CHS) launched its gymnastics program with head coach Carol Willson at the helm.
The Washougal girls basketball team had the honor of playing some of the best teams in the nation at the eighth annual Jerry Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, Dec. 18 through Dec. 21.

With two minutes left in a Dec. 11 game against the Camas Papermakers, the West Linn Lions girls basketball team — Oregon’s top-ranked 6A team — took a five-point lead and appeared to be in control of the young Papermaker squad.
Excitement and high expectations surround Camas wrestlers as they train and work on moves for the new season on the almost blinding red practice mats that surround each athlete with Papermaker pride.
The wrestling room at Washougal High School has a lot of hardware hanging on the wall, from a long list of state champions. It’s something athletes take great pride in and this year’s team plans to bring more postseason hardware back to the Washougal Panther practice den.
After two consecutive trips to the state championships, the Camas High School girls basketball team has a fresh look with a new head coach and — other than star point guard Haley Hanson — a new set of varsity players.
