Brenda Snoey Niblock

Brenda Snoey Niblock died peacefully at home with her husband and family members on Jan. 5, 2025 at the age of 73 as a result of advanced cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucas and Laura Snoey. She is survived by her husband Tom Niblock; her step-daughter Carie Niblock Hitchcock; sisters Patricia Snoey Woodell (husband Mike Woodell), Jeri Snoey Warner (husband Dan Warner), and Leslie Snoey Angelo (husband Tony Angelo); and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born in Vancouver, WA on April 7, 1951. She graduated from Camas High School in 1969. In 1974, she received a Masters Degree in Community Services and Public Affairs from University of Oregon. In her first job as a volunteer coordinator at Vancouver City Hall, she met her husband-to-be, Tom Niblock and they married in July, 1975. She loved to teach, and completed a Masters Degree in Health Education from Portland State University in 1977. That degree helped get her jobs in teaching health education at Clark College and as a health educator for several non-profit organizations later on.
Tom and Brenda lived in Vancouver, WA, for most of their married lives, developing new hobbies together after they met and married. They loved to hike and backpack, taking in the hikes in the Columbia River Gorge and around Washington State and Oregon. When they both retired in 1999, they moved to Kona, Hawaii, on the Big Island for six years where they enjoyed the underwater beauty of scuba diving and underwater photography. Wherever they went, they developed new lasting friendships with neighbors and church friends. In 2005, they moved to Whidbey Island, WA, for a year before returning to Vancouver, WA, where they took
up bicycling for recreation and exercise. Brenda also loved to cook and entertain friends and family when able, as well as tend a flower and vegetable garden at home. She loved casual meetings with neighbors when she was gardening in their yard, as well as making friends with fellow walkers around the neighborhood, especially if they had dogs.
A memorial service to celebrate Brenda’s life will be held at Felida Bible Church in Vancouver at 1 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers, Brenda wishes for friends and family to donate to their favorite charity.
