Donald E. Pollock

September 18, 1934 – January 4, 2024

With deep sorrow and so much love, we mourn the passing of Donald Eugene Pollock, at the age of 89.

Born in Gerring, Nebraska to Lucille and Joseph Pollock. At a young age the family moved to Camas, Washington. After graduating high school Don served aboard the USS Diodon (SS 349) with the US Navy Submarine Core. Then attending the University of Oregon, Don met and married his wife Julia Gail Kneeland in June of 1959. They resided in Southern California and San Fransisco for a few years before moving to Oregon. Together they traveled extensively, seeing much of Europe and
Asia.

In Portland Don established a rewarding and successful career in the Real Estate Development business for 63 years, working on projects until his passing. He also mentored many others in the work he loved so much.

Don joined other investors in acquiring the original Portland Timbers Soccer Club, later buying himself sole ownership. He gained many lifelong friendships in doing this, and had a love for the organization from then on for the rest of his life.

Don enjoyed skiing, and later golf, joining the Portland Golf Club, also making many friends along the way. He was also a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club, where he frequently would be seen treating his loved ones and employees to lunch. His friends would describe him as strong, intelligent, social, generous, and very witty.

Don is survived by his children, sons, Michael Pollock (Lina) and Roger Pollock (Kara), grandchildren Hunter, Sophia, Carson, and Miles; his daughter Elizabeth Pollock, and grandchild Desmond Gail Pollock.

Our family extends a thank you to Don’s health and care provider, Rhonda Mantelli, for her exceptional service to him these last 8 years; as well as to the entire care team who contributed to keeping him safe and well through the end of his life.

A celebration of life will be held at Multnomah Athletic Club, 1849 SW Salmon St, Portland, OR 97205 on February 2, 2024 from noon to 4pm.

At Don’s request, in lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your favorite charity.
